THE TELEPHONE PREFIX '2'

For the final time, a reminder that, as of January 1, 2001, ALL telephone numbers in Taichung city and Taichung are eight-digit and in Nantou County are seven-digit with the addition of '2' to the front of them. The area code for Taichung city and county will continue to be 04 while the Nantou code remains 049. This means the Compass office number, for example, will change to 04-2205-0443. Be sure to inform your friends, business contacts and others around the island and overseas.
