O'CHANG'S BAR & RESTAURANT

|
Looking for a good
place to meet the lads for a pint? Or perhaps some Irish stew
or stewed steak in Guinness? Try Taichung's first and only
Irish-style pub, opened recently by Rachel Chang and already drawing
a faithful crowd of loyal expatriates. Chang has done a very
faithful job of creating a authentic-feeling place, complete with
wooden floors and high-beamed ceilings, fireplace, cozy booths and,
of course, a long well-stocked bar run by bartender Jay. O'Chang's
offers a good menu of medium-priced dishes, from the above-mentioned
specialties to items like Philly cheese steaks, deep-fried chicken
fingers and ribs. On weekends, there are several breakfast
options, including NT$220 The Full Monty (a hearty combination of
eggs, bacon, sausages and other things), and various omelets.
There are afternoon teas, lots of beers and other drinks.
To get there, take Taichung Kang Road under the freeway, turn right
at the fourth traffic light (Yung Fu Rd.), and it's on the pedestrian
lane between the McDonald's and KFC.
