A big, white-framed
glass box with blue-and-white-striped awnings and rows of umbrella-shaded
outdoor tables, FM Station is impossible to miss and exudes a bright,
airy, slightly-European feeling. This large cafe, open about
20 hours a day, provides all kinds of teas, coffees, home-made ice
creams and sorbet, flavored sodas, cakes, breads and meals.
From 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., order any drink and get free pastries thrown
in for breakfast. From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5:30 to 9
p.m., there are selections of Western and Chinese meals costing
from NT$190 to NT$250 and including items like Shanghai pork spare
ribs, apple fried pork cutlet, spaghetti and paella. Drinks
range from NT$70 to NT$120 and include coffees, flower and milk
teas and a wide range of flavored drinks, such as the unique flavored
sodas (seltzers to you New Yorkers) that come in vanilla, blueberry,
coconut, kiwi, tangerine and other types. A large bakery sells
dozens of cakes, pastries and breads. Everything is available
for take-out at the cafe, located between Chienhsing and Chinhua
North roads.
