Bring her breakfast in bed on a tray. After breakfast, giver her a hot bubble bath with soft lighting, soft music and a good book.  Then take her to a shop near Morrison called Chia-yi (441, Sz Ping Rd.) that will give a 2 hour facial for between NT$500 and NT$800.  They will also do a body massage.

Now that she¡¦s relaxed and feeling great, head to Art Street for window shopping.  When she¡¦s ready for a break and something to eat, take in the Anne of Green Gables tea shop . The blueberry milk tea there is great!

Then, continue walking and shopping.  When she is tired, head back to town for buffet dinner at the Evergreen Hotel.  We will talk about our first Valentine¡¦s Day together and what we remember about it.

The late evening will take some preplanning and preparation.  I will arrange with friends to exchange houses.  They will come stay at our house for the night and watch our kids.  We get their house to ourselves.  While she is getting her facial and massage earlier in the day, I will stop at a flower shop and buy as many roses as the number of years we have spent Valentine¡¦s Day together, and then head to our friends¡¦ apartment.  A bottle of sparkling cider gets put in the refrigerator.  I hide her gift in the house, then, write her a short love card that tells where her gift is.  The gift is a framed letter from me to her.

After arriving at our friends¡¦ home, she will see the card along with the roses on a table close to the front door.  After she finishes the hunt for her present, I read the letter in the frame to her.

It¡¦s now time to settle in to watch a romance comedy, eat popcorn and toast each other with the sparkling cider.

Dwight Johnson (Winner of a dinner for two at Landis Hotel¡¦s La Mode Restaurant)
