CHRISTMAS CONCERTS

* Lincoln American School's High School Christmas Concert will take place at the school on Thursday, December 7, starting at 7 p.m. There will be performances of Christmas melodies by both the advanced and beginner bell choirs, plus music by the chorus and a four-hand piano duet. One week later, on December 14 at the same time, elementary students will also perform at the Elementary Christmas Concert. All concerts and free and open to the public. * Morrison Academy High School Christmas Concert will take place on Friday, December 8 and Saturday, December 9 in the school's auditorium at 7:30 p.m. This concert, free and open to all, will include a variety of performances by the high school band, orchestra, acapella choir, and chorale. Music will include portions of Handel's 'Messiah', Menotti's 'Amahl and the Night Visitors', a Vivaldi guitar concerto and other traditional Christmas music. On December 12, junior high school students will also perform at the Middle School Christmas Concert. * Handel's 'Messiah' will be performed at the Tunghai University Millennium Christmas Concert on December 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the university's famous Luce Chapel. The concert, featuring the Tunghai orchestra and church choir directed by Dr. Chung An-ni, will also include Renaissance and folk music and is free and open to the public. Other Christmas performances--all held in the chapel--during the month include a harp concert on December 8 at 7 p.m. and a concert by the elementary students of the university's Fushao Elementary School on December 21 at 7:30 p.m.

* Christmas music will be among a variety of works performed by the Ukrainian Children's Choir of Odessa on Friday, December 8 at Taichung County Cultural Center in Fengyuan City at 7:30 p.m. The choir will also perform at Saturday, December 9 at the Taichung County Seaport Art Center at 7:30 p.m. The choir, which has performed widely around the world, will be singing Ukrainian folk songs and classical, religious and Christmas music. Tickets cost NT$100 and NT$200 and are available at the county cultural center information counter, Fengyuan city's Sanmin Book Store and other ERA outlets.
