369 has been feeding hungry residents for decades from its location in the heart of Taichung's old movie district, near Taichung (Chungshan) Park, and just re-opened with a new facelift. The beef noodles, costing NT$95 per bowl, are a thinner variety and come with slabs of beef (of course, always expect some fat and gristle, which local diners like) and a very tasty soup. There are also pork chop noodles and chicken leg noodles (NT$90); pork chop, beef stew and other rice dishes; "jaotzu" boiled dumplings, fried "kuo tieh" dumplings, "tsung you bing" scallion and oil cakes and other dishes. Heading on Kungyuan (Park) Road towards Tzuyou Road, with the park on your left, turn right at the 7-11, at the last road before the Tzuyou intersection. It's on the next corner on the right. And why the name "369"? "It just sounds kind of smooth," replied one employee.
