Ever passed a coffee shop where you turn your head to have a closer look at its distinctive design? Monza Cafe is such a place, boasting azure ceramic-potted bamboo trees, dark wooden pillars and obelisk-shaped columns. Juicy broad-leafed tropical plants and half a dozen platinum tables and chairs are arranged on the pebbled sidewalk. Gray Kao, who owns the place with his older brother, designed the cafe by himself. The menu prices here are reasonable, especially when compared to the apparent value of the decor. Caffeine-lovers' favorites can be had for between NT$100 and NT$120, and teas for NT$120 to NT$140. Monza's set meals, such as Grilled Butter Salmon With Rice (NT$240), are regularly in demand. And get this--there is a flat screen TV playing unreleased movies plus a sound system in their orange-tiled toilet. -- By Yahan Wu
