A Taichung friend of mine always complains that there is not
much teahouse culture in Taipei when compared with Taichung.
It is especially difficult to find a uniquely decorated teahouse
that is reasonably priced. After I came across this teahouse,
I immediately called her with the good news and invited her
to try it the next time she came to Taipei. When entering,
the first thing one will notice is an entire wall covered
with paintings of river maps from the Ming and Ching dynasties.
Tea House is liberally decorated with wood and the windows
on the second floor were found in an antique shop. All of
the paintings and calligraphy scrolls hanging on the walls
are from the owner's personal collection. The owner has worked
hard to create an artistic atmosphere that is not too pretentious.
Moreover, the teas are reasonably priced. The next time you
want to take a break from shopping at the TongHua Night Market,
remember to stop in here.--By Selena Huang
