Taipei's sweltering summer is just around the corner, but the weather won't be the only thing that's hot in town. Last year, event crew Frog in a Sock got their feet wet launching their first series of pool parties at the Sunworld Dynasty Hotel. Defying the less-than-chipper party scene at the time, they were a huge success--attracting an average of 400 people to each party, with a good mix of Taiwanese and foreigners keeping the atmosphere cosmopolitan. This summer they're back with their sights set on eight events spanning the summer, with a new venue added to the mix. Drinks at the bar are a nicely priced NT$100 and food is provided by Sababa Pita Bar and Maple's. Prizes will be handed out by Roxy and Quiksilver. Guest DJs and volleyball will get your muscles pumping, and massage therapists are there to turn them to jelly. The events run from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. and are hosted at the Sunworld Dynasty Hotel (100, DunHua N Rd; www.sunworlddynasty.com.tw) and the Taipei Water Park in GongGuan (TingZhou Rd, Sec 3, Lane 160; www.aquakid.com.tw). Admission for the day is NT$350 for women and NT$450 for men at the Sunworld Dynasty Hotel, and at the Taipei Water Park entry is NT$250 for all.
