As you pass by the lush, dark green trees growing along Zhong
Shan North Road, a seventy-seven year old Vienna style building
with gardens stands out. Here, the internationally acclaimed
director Hou Xiao Xian led the way for Taiwan's movie producers,
enthusiasts and all those who appreciate fine art films. He
cultivated a dedicated following that believed in original
ideas and the place became known as the "Houses of Taipei".
A Chinese diplomatic mission in the U.S. officially recognized
the "House of Taipei", albeit the notice was limited.
It disbanded, but has regrouped after more than 20years hiatus.
Currently, programs are broadcast regularly every month and
are aired internationally and in Taiwan at "SPOT",
which includes a coffee shop, garden, bar and multipurpose
auditorium, and the Honest Bookstore. SPOT caters to peoples'
needs for relaxation, entertainment, language exchange and
higher learning. If you are a film buff, don't miss it!--By
