With a total of 220 branches throughout Japan, Ramen Kagetsu Arashi is descending upon Taiwan with their second store at the Vieshow Cinema Complex in Xinyi. This establishment will hopefully enjoy the same patronage as the first location in the Taipei Train Station. --By Josie Wu, translated by Ann Lee

A. Kagetsu Arashi's well-known garlic pork dish, the Ninniku Genkotsu Ramen (NT$160), was created by the founder of this popular noodle shop over 15 years ago. Its wonderful flavor comes from the pork broth, which is made with a generous amount of garlic, vegetables, and pig fat.

B. Their Extreme Black Ninniku Genkotsu Ramen (NT$190) is another version of their signature pork noodles. Deep-fried bacon bits and sesame oil are added to the soup to create a tangier flavor. Both the garlic and the sesame oil come from Beigang Township in Yulin. If you have quite an appetite, then try the Garlic Pork with Rice, it complements the flavors of the other dishes.

C. Other nice dishes here include Teppanyaki Fried Rice and various side dishes like Garlic Minced Pork with Rice (NT$45), which you can top with sauce, green onions, sliced seaweed, freshly chopped garlic, French Fauchon black pepper, and/or spicy leeks.
