It's like having dinner at your friend's place; in a quiet alley off Zhongshan North Road, ring the doorbell at this private property to enter. Located in Tienmu, there is no sign or a set menu (they do not accept passersby; a reservation is mandatory). The exterior looks like any old residence; inside, there are five rooms of various sizes, with a distinguished retro European-style setting. They prepare their ingredients after the reservations are made, so freshness and quality are guaranteed. For any special requests regarding your order, tell them in advance. For those who visit for the first time, or want to know exactly what they are getting, White House provides custom-made cuisine and meal sets (NT$1,580) such as Salmon with Tartar, Truffle Eggs & Caviar, Goose Liver Filet in Red Wine Sauce, Chicken & Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf Wrap and Braised Shark Fin with Chicken. Since this spot has a lot of privacy, it's a good place for birthday parties and wine-tasting events. Want to try something different? Call the White House, you'll get what you expect and more. --By Josie Wu, translated by Ann Lee
