Kuma Hachi Japanese Barbecue, situated near Sincere Department Store, has always been famous for high-quality ingredients. Expanding its horizons, Kuma Hachi opened a restaurant at the end of last year that mainly sells dainty Japanese-style hot pots. There are four hot pot soup bases: Sumo, Milk, Kimchi and Shabu Shabu. Sumo Pot consists of burdock root, chicken bones and pork bones. Slow-cooked, the root is said to release nutrients that can be compared to ginseng. In addition, the Sumo Pot took second place in a "Smoke Free Restaurant" hot pot competition. The Milk Pot is one of the most popular, with a base prepared with Wei Chuan's Lin Feng Ying High Quality Milk and Katsuo Soup Base for a creamy-fresh flavor. The Korean-style Kimchi Pot is prepared from kimchi specially made by the restaurant and slow cooked with pork bones. The tastiest meat in the restaurant is the pork. Specially selected black-haired pigs are chosen for their fresh "wu hua" meat. These top-grade cuts ensure that the soup base becomes sweeter and tastier as you add seafood and vegetables. Apart from hot pots, sashimi, Stone Pot Mixed Rice, Japanese-style salads and many other items are also available, there is all-you-can-eat at lunch (NT$429), dinner and all day holidays(NT$499).
