Situated on the top floor of The Sheraton
Taipei Hotel, The Guest House features modern and retro
cuisine and decor. Its main focus is Shanghainese cuisine
and handmade noodle and appetizer dishes. Breaking the
stereotype of a traditional Shanghai restaurant, its
modern-yet-retro Chinese decor creates an appealing
atmosphere. The menu includes such classics as Braised
Noodles with Yellow Fish Broth, Suzhou style Steamed
Pork Dumplings, and Supreme Chicken Casserole. With
over 25 years of experience, Chef Lin Chen-ching has
also created a delicious series of innovative dishes,
including Braised Pork Knuckles with Rock Sugar, inspired
by the Tung-Po Pork dish. Chef Lin replaces the fatty
pork with pork knuckles, which have a high gel content,
and adds Chinese red rice germ to give the meat just
the right texture. Among other dishes are Whispers,
made from pig tongues and pig ears; Miso Spicy Chicken,
a new combination of Japanese miso and Sichuan spices;
and Preserved Peppers and Egg. A la carte dishes start
from NT$100. With set menus designed for business lunches,
guests can savor their favorite dishes with four side
dishes for one good price. Eleven VIP rooms on the 18th
floor will also satisfy any party needs. The Guest House,
as its name suggests, truly makes its guests a priority.
