Although the ZhongXiao East Road area
has no shortage of pubs and restaurants, vegetarian
restaurants are few and far between. Situated in a lane
off GuangFu North Road, the elegant and comfortable
Treasured Vessel Vegetarian Cuisine helps fill this
gap as a new place for vegetarian food lovers to hang
out at. Executive Chef Mr. Shu Jia-Jian was once the
head chef at Jing Zhao Yin, and also previously worked
as a chef at the President's residence. The experienced
chef has created hundreds of different dishes using
only the finest ingredients, paying attention to the
modern-day healthy concept of using less oil, salt and
sugar. Hou Tou mushrooms (literally "Monkey's Head"
mushrooms) are the star attraction here, cooked in 10
different ways. One of these, known as the "delicious
soup", has a broth with other mushrooms, lotus
roots and seasonal vegetables in a nutritious, non-greasy
soup. The restaurant offers set menus (NT$550-NT$680)
that come with eight courses. Each course comes with
two choices, with different dishes available every week.
Afternoon teas sets are also available (tea and five
tea snack courses for NT$250). Whether you're a vegetarian
or not, this restaurant is well worth a try. |
