Through the recommendation of a Japanese friend who had been in Taiwan for many years, I got to know Kichi as the place where one could enjoy the most traditional Japanese sushi in Taiwan. Japanese boss, Mr. Lin Sin Hon, used to work in a seafood company in Tokyo and has become a fish expert. All ingredients are bought and delivered directly from the ¡§Thikuzi market¡¨ in Tokyo, in order to guarantee an authentic Japanese taste. The most popular dish at Kichi is the Etomae-style sushi (flower sushi--8 for NT$280, moon sushi--8 for NT$380 and snow sushi--12 for NT$420). Tolo, salmon, sea urchin and bream are special favorites with customers. Sashimi items start at only NT$30.
The traditional Etomae sushi gives a mouthful of well-balanced rice and other ingredients. The fish is fresh and tasty; the vinegar rice is soft and chewy, creating a wonderful sensations and flavors in one's mouth.
