From the outside, The Way of Health does not look like an ordinary
health food store. It has a small garden area in front and bamboo
running along the side. Inside is dark-wood decor and subdued lighting.
The Way of Health was founded on the concepts of four books written
by Dr. Chiang Hsu-hui. These concepts include promoting physical
health by eating organic, nutritious foods and increasing emotional
health by reducing stress and paying attention to one's quality
of life. The purpose of this store is to provide accurate health
information. It does not advertise, as its customer base is people
who have read Dr. Chiang's books. On Mondays and Thursdays, the
Way of Health serves set meals. The cost is NT$120 to NT$150 depending
on the ingredients used. Diners not only enjoy a delicious healthy
meal, but also learn how to make these dishes at home. Reservations
for these lunches must be made in advance as there is limited seating.
In addition, it is possible to purchase organic fruits and vegetables.
Fresh stock arrives on Thursdays, hence the later closing time.
Imported vitamins, herbs, natural shampoos and soaps, and cotton
clothing are also available.
