The "2016 Taichung Traditional Arts Festival" will be held from February 8th to February 14th, 2016, across the following venues: The Taichung City Da Dun Cultural Center, the Taichung City Huludun Cultural Center, the Taichung City Seaport Art Center, the Taichung City Tun District Art Center and the Taiwan-Story Museum respectively. The Taichung Traditional Arts Festival is hoping to light up the atmosphere of the traditional holidays, giving the public a way to enjoy arts and leisure during the Lunar New Year.

The event is based on the theme "Drum Dance E Sky-high Luck in Monkey Year" and combines local traditional art culture with international art culture. Nearly forty performing local and international teams have been invited to attend, and there are seventy-eight shows in total. Each location will hold different events such as DIY camps, Art Market, and street performances. Moreover, there will be red envelopes in limited numbers given out, symbolizing good-luck for citizens in the coming year.

The performances include the internationally-and locally-famous Ten Drum Art Percussion Group, National Taiwan College of Performing Arts Troupe of Acrobatics, Soy La Ley Afro-Cuban Jazz Band and outstanding local performing teams like Chio-Tian Folk Drums and Arts Troupe, He He Music Group, Guokuang Taiwanese Opera Company, Wu Chou Yaun Palm Puppet Troupe, Taiwan Yang-Qin Ensemble, Yi Ji Dance Troupe. In addition, international performing teams include Nagara drums from Azerbaijan, Malaysia Professional Cultural Chinese Orchestra, Bolivian Indian Music Group, Okinawa Taiko Drum and The Muddy Basin Ramblers. These performers will certainly bring you unforgettable shows, and it is hoped to bring audiences the beauty of local traditional arts as well as different international art cultures.
