During the Chinese New Year holiday period, the 2014 Taichung City Traditional Art Festival will take place simultaneously in different parts of the city—Dadun Cultural Center, Huludun Cultural Center, Taichung Seaport Cultural Center and Tun District Art Center, with many wonderful performances and activities specially organized for the Calligraphy Greenway and Taichung Folk Park to create a festive atmosphere and celebrate the arrival of the lunar new year. Respected and renowned performance groups have been invited, including The Ri Group of Ming Hua Yuan Taiwanese Opera, Ten Drums Art Percussion Group, and the Huang Junxiong Puppet Troupe led by Huang Ligang, plus numerous other outstanding local and international performers. In addition, there will be live music, dance, theater and traditional folk-skills performances and plenty of activities, from an art market and games for parents and children, to handicraft workshops. It is hoped that all of these will provide great recreational options to relax and learn about traditional art and culture in the midst of modernity over the Chinese New Year holiday.
