City Coloring Festival

Drawing
can trigger the inner potentials of children, whose
world is filled with creativity and imagination. The
pictures created with the color pencils are an insight
to the minds of the children and aids the adults in
the assisting of their physical and spiritual development.

With
a series of event, the government of Taichung
City hopes to improve communications between parents
and children and to enhance the residents' observation
abilities, comprehension and emotional exchange.
The City Coloring Festival sponsored by Taichung
Cultural Affairs Bureau features four events in
September, another opportunity for those who missed
the events in August. There is the parent-child
activity that residents can watch as well as participate
in; it is chance to embrace art in our daily lives
and to sharpen our color sense. Residents can
also submit children's drawings online before
Sept. 27 for an online psychological interpretation
and interact with art consultants online during
the festival period. Ten drawings are chosen for
analysis each week; winners will receive a better
understanding of their child's inner potentials
and a gift. |
 |
The
sponsor has also planned many entertaining competitions
for the parent-child groups and for the general residents.
Anyone with a great idea will get a chance to show
with great prizes for the winners.
The
first even in September – "Thousand-People
Coloring Fest" – takes place at Tiger City
Plaza. Artists will lead residents to paint on canvas
to create a joint-effort work of art to be displayed
in the underground crosswalk at the train station.
There is also the Spectrum Exhibition; dazzling colors
will be available for residents to experience painting
freely on themselves. Come join the Body Paint competition.
The
second even is "Colorful Iron Beetles".
There will be live demonstrations on painting bicycles,
motorcycles, parasols, and helmets. Learn how to instantly
beautify that old transportation vehicle for the summer
with a few brushstrokes.
The
third event, "Rainbow Octopus", features
a soul-shocking rock party at the underground crosswalk
in the train station. The echo produces great acoustic
effects to thrill the participants. After two hours
of dancing, join in the Paint Ball Battle and throw
cotton balls soaked in different color paints on each
other and see what fascinating pictures result. Participants
must be dressed in light garments and wear protective
eye goggles. Afterwards, artists will work with the
resulting designs left on battle-scarred wall to create
a beautiful mural, which will be left in place for
display.
The
fourth event – "Vibrant Night Phantom"
– will be a climatic end to the festival. It
begins with a series of performances and the Spectrum
Exhibition. Artists will have fun with audiences using
jazz music and dramatic arts. At night will be the
final highlights. Different color fluorescent lights
will create a mystical atmosphere. With fluorescent
jazz percussion and rock dancing, colors join fluorescence
for a misty and charming night. It will be an experience
in mystic.
