       SMART is one among a dynamic new breed of language consulting centers that provides customers with tailor-made English-learning options 24 hours a day. The center's students currently range between 19 months and 72 years old and include infants, students and white-collar professionals. Classes are arranged by the hour, with the average client buying a 60-hour block of time and studying about three hours per week, usually by themselves or with a friend or two. In most cases, the center dispatches the teacher--foreign or local, depending on preference--to the client, who may arrange for sessions any time of the day or night. In addition, clients may use the center's phone, e-mail and fax teaching/consulting options. SMART also offers special activities packages for clients, organizing parties, KTV visits, tea times, movies, hiking and other outdoor activities as English-learning experiences at least four times a month. Clients signed up for over 60 hours of learning time get a month of activities free.--By Douglas Habecker
