Children and
adults alike will find themselves amused and educated at the science
museum's new 'Material World' section, located on the fourth floor
of the museum's Science Center building (where the IMAX theater
is also located). This permanent addition features about 50
different colorful hands-on exhibits which allow visitors to simultaneously
play and learn about chemistry and physics-related areas, from hydrodynamics
to parabolic surfaces. (Hint to teachers: This is a great field
trip destination). Some notable examples include 'Chasing
the Sun', where one can propel a small solar car by directing light
at it; 'Fantastic Space'--a giant soap-bubble machine; and another
device that allows users to make a metal ring jump by sound alone.
Approaching the museum from the Kuanchien/Taichung Kang Road side,
the Science Hall is the big building on the right of the plaza and
also contains gift shops, snack bar and other educational exhibits.
Admission to the hall is free with general museum ticket or NT$10
by itself.
