Part of Japan's largest restaurant chain, this new self-serve eatery is located in a recently-opened food court on the first floor of the new Guoguang Bus Station, where there are a variety of restaurants and shops. Maido Ookini Shokudo provides microwaves, dining utensils, takeout containers, Japanese tea and soft drinks with its cafeteria-style selection of Japanese side dishes, grilled, fried and stewed foods, udon noodles, and rice. Entrees include the crispy, richly-flavored Tempura Shrimp with Curry Rice (NT$185), prepared with fresh shrimp rolled in imported Japanese flour and deep fried, the popular Tom Yum Curry Rice (NT$185) and soft, thick Japanese Style Eggs (NT$60). Edamame (NT$50) and udon, made with precise quantities of wheat flour and salt water, are also remarkable dishes.
