Conveniently located near Taichung's SOGO Department Store, Toque is a European-style restaurant that offers a simple, but elegant, ambiance together with a broad range of cuisine. This establishment's flexibility also extends to group bookings, outside catering and vegetarian meals--just call in advance and tell them your dining time, number of guests and any special menu requests.
Toque's two young chefs are enthusiastic about their craft, and not only import ingredients from a variety of places but also select fresh local ingredients. The popular Pork Knuckles with Honey Mustard Sauce (NT$450) is prepared with a special salt imported from De Guerande, France, together with juniper and bay leaves. The delicious, chewy pork goes well with the mustard sauce and sauerkraut.
Any entree can be turned into a set meal for an added NT$150 (Set A) or NT$250 (Set B). The former includes salad, soup, bread, dessert and a drink while the latter comes with all of the above plus a classic appetizer (four options, including fried soft-shell crabs). Soft-shell crabs are also served for free to diners ordering lunch sets on weekdays.
