Walk across this restaurant's drawbridge,
push open the heavy wooden door, step inside the red-brick
castle and you will feel as if you have entered a medieval
castle. Kreutzer positions itself as a place where patrons
can enjoy some great European cuisine. The main offerings
here are steak meals (NT$280-NT$1,500). Using top-grade cuts,
such as sirloin steak, the restaurant's five-star hotel chefs
use their excellent skills and techniques to create dishes
that retain the full original flavors of the ingredients.
The Papaya Milk Baked Rice (NT$380) is one of their limited-edition
dishes and is made from red papaya, beef, cream and rice baked
together. The sweetness of the papaya soaks into the rice,
creating a delicious texture that will surprise your palate.
Their house special is a top-grade Blue Mountain coffee, with
beans cultivated 7,000 feet above sea level--the result of
a collaborative effort with Jamaican coffee farmers. These
beans are professionally roasted locally, then air freighted
to Taiwan. Their lasting aroma and flavor will have you coming
back for more. Kreutzer's Guang Xi Sweet Osmanthus Tea is
also well worth trying. --By Tammy Huang, translated by Cara
