While many people have tried the Western-style breakfasts at Chun Shui Tang, few know about this famed teahouse's Childhood Chinese-Style Breakfast. In Taiwan's early agrarian society, most local residents were in the habit of eating congee for breakfast. Hoping to recapture these traditional flavors, two Chung Shui Tang branches (QingHai and the DaDun branch on JingMing 1st St.) offer the Childhood Chinese-Style Breakfast so that diners can experience the "good old days". The QingHai branch offers unlimited breakfast refills for their Sweet Potato Congee (NT$10 per refill at the DaDun branch) and there are four fixed side dishes (tuna fish, dried shredded pork, pickled cucumbers, fried eggs with spring onions) that come with a plate of seasonal green vegetables. This filling breakfast only costs you NT$49, but you must order a drink to go with it, with drink prices increasing according to your choice of beverage. If your appetite allows for more, you can order other snacks on the a la carte menu as well.
