Jade Garden Chinese Restaurant has over 20
years of history in Taichung and moved from Taichung Harbor
Road to its current premises on BoGuan 2nd Street about five
years ago. Ceiling-to-floor windows and comfortable, spacious
seating all help provide a very enjoyable dining environment.
The head chef is from Hong Kong and brings an authenticity
to the dishes offered here. Jade Garden's Hong Kong-style
dim sum dishes are highly recommended. The Steamed Shark's
Fin Dumpling in Chicken Broth (NT$148) is a combination of
shark's fin, shrimp, mushrooms and crabmeat, steamed until
juices fill the dumpling. The Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (NT$98)
are made from cleaned, carefully treated shrimp that are wrapped
in a clear dough skin, then steam-cooked in traditional steamer
baskets. The Baked Ham and Onion Cake with Sesame Seeds (NT$68)
has flaky layers of dough with ham and chopped onions wrapped
inside and sesame seeds sprinkled on top, all baked to perfection.
The restaurant offers VIP rooms for 10 to 16 people; these
can also be used for banquets and can hold 25 to 40 tables.
This good deal includes soup and seven kinds of Hong Kong-style
dim sum. There are also business lunches, vegetarian dishes
and various shark's fin set meals available. |
