Swallows' nests have long been considered a rare natural health food with reputed qualities detailed in ancient Chinese books on herbal medicine, as well as literary works such as "Dream of the Red Chamber". Swallows' nests contain easily absorbable water-soluble protein as well as over 10 different kinds of amino acids, Glycoprotein and Epidermic Growth Factor as well. These good-quality proteins are reported to help provide the human body with the necessary potassium, calcium, phosphorous, sulfur, magnesium and other minerals. Lao Fo Ye Natural Swallow's Nest offers pure swallows' nests that, without any additives or preservatives, can be eaten instantly. Each serving contains at least 30 to 40 percent solids. There are different flavors, available hot or cold. Rock Sugar Swallow's Nest (NT$60), Dates and Gouqi Swallow's Nest (NT$100) and the Natural Pearl Swallow's Nest (NT$150) also come with a tube of pearl powder. The Chicken with Swallow's Nest (NT$150) is savory and prepared with a soup base made from Brazilian mushrooms and old hens for a very refreshing taste. Food fit for a king can be enjoyed for commoner's prices, and this high-class delicacy can be eaten by people of all ages. Take-out dishes are also available. For orders of NT$1,000 or more, you can enjoy free delivery service within city limits.
