Seven years ago, a quaint Italian eatery--with the sign "Oodles of Noodles, Sorry No Poodles" plastered to the window--opened its doors to pizza, pasta and calzone lovers in Fengyuan. The owner, who earned a doctorate in wheat sciences at an American university, has since made dough his passion. After baking pastries for some years in America, this Taiwan native decided to branch out to Italian cookery. He said that the reason was because he loves healthy foods like tomatoes and garlic, which he uses most in Italian baking.

Oodles of Noodles' specialty is the Calzone (NT$200-250) which comes with your choice of soup or salad. The finished product is an authentic-tasting blend of tomatoes, spices and meat, wrapped in a pizza dough crust and stuffed with mozzarella cheese. The chef also recommends the Carbonara Pasta (NT$150), which comes with your choice of soup or salad. If you love pasta covered with cream and bacon, the carbonara could be your new favorite dish.
