VISITOR RATINGS & REVIEWS
For almost 10 years, this fine dining establishment
and its charismatic owner, Charlie, have been Taichung's leading
providers of outstanding, live-imported seafood and cuisine.
Now, Charlie has opened a very attractive, much-larger branch
in a mansion-like building on DaYe Road, between HuiZhong
and HuiLai roads, opposite HuiLai Elementary School. Twice
as large as the original restaurant (which is still in business
at 365, DaDun Rd.), this place has 16 tables on the first
floor, an upstairs mezzanine level, and in a basement VIP
room (seating 25-30 people).
High ceilings, hand-painted ocean-theme murals,
chandeliers and other pleasant touches abound. Much of the
menu comes from the live-seafood tanks, including the Maine/Alaskan
Lobster (about NT$2,650/kilo), Dungeness Crab (NT$2,050/kilo),
Alaskan King Crab (NT$3,800/kilo), Snow Crab, and Vancouver
Spot Prawns. Other dishes include Dover Sole (from Holland),
prime-Australian sirloin steaks (NT$1,295), big crab cakes,
clams, scallops, and New Zealand Lamb Chops (all main entrees
come with bread, soup, coffee, dessert). This is a private-style
restaurant, so reservations are required.
