Shanghai
New Paradise (Xin-le-yuan)
319, Chen-De Rd
 |
It's
almost impossible to miss the peculiar, Shanghai-style
building at the intersection of WenXin (Wen Shin) and Chen-De
roads. Named Shanghai "xin le yuan" or "new
paradise", this new place was opened by the owner
of the popular Chuen Lu Store on Shuang Shi Road and San-Yi
Railroad Restaurant. The menu here is diverse, covering
everything from main dishes to desserts and snacks, all
of which represent authentic Shanghainese cuisine. The
emphasis is put on large amounts of oil, rich flavors and
colorful dishes. Among all the dishes, you will find popular
ones such as Shaoxing Wine Marinated Chicken (NT$260),
Wu-Hsi Ribs (NT$360), Braised Fish Snout in Soy Sauce (NT$150)
and Sliced Fish Soup (NT$380). The restaurant covers nearly
400 pings and seats approximately 200 people. Lunch, afternoon
tea time, dinner and late-night dinner are all served.
Diners may only reserve set-table menu meals, as reservations
are not provided for regular dining. If you are in the
mood to try some authentic Shanghainese food, this is an
attractive option worth trying. --By Catherine Liu, Translated
