VISITOR RATINGS & REVIEWS
The owner was promoting Taiwanese foods in Chiayi awhile back.
Sensing an opportunity, he and family opened up this well
received restaurant in Taichung early this year. Coming from
three generations of catering chefs, his signature “Budda
Surprise” has a nostalgic home taste of a traditionally
thick broth filled with fried spareribs, crisp bamboo shoots,
taro root, and mushroom. Priced at $50 a bowl, anyone can
afford it. Other authentic dishes: northern and southern flavored
“Mushroom Meat” Rice Cake and Clam Soup with Bamboo
Fungus are priced together for $50. There are over 30 choices
in main dishes, soups, side dishes, and salads. Fried spareribs
come in five choices: noodles, winter melon, day lily flower,
bitter melon and taro root. For a little money, tasty and
fulfilling authentic catered Taiwanese dishes can be had at
Ming Jia Shiang.
