VISITOR RATINGS & REVIEWS
This friendly little bar
and restaurant, run by long-time Canadian resident Gordon Froze
and business partner Anita Huang, serves up some of Taichung's best
pizza. These come as either as nine-inch or 12-inch pies, featuring
a wonderfully-chewy crust made from full-gluten flour. Basic types
of pizza--from NT$210 for a nine-inch and from NT$280 for a 12-inch--are
Hawaiian, Mexican, Italian, and Pepperoni. Build-your-own pizzas
start from a base NT$135/nine-inch, NT$180/12-inch pie with extra
cost for a wide range of ingredients, such as onions, olives, sun-dried
tomatoes, salmon, crab, smoked chicken, and Canadian bacon. Salut
also serves pasta, like the Spinach and Mozzarella Cheese Ravioli
(NT$180) and lasagna. The bar has Carlsberg draft on tap (NT$120),
other bottled beers (NT$100-150), cocktails (NT$150), soft drinks
and a house wine. There are Happy Hour buy-one-get-one-free drinks
and free pizza upgrade from 9-inch to 12-inch from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday
to Friday. Gordon and Anita also plan to add pizza by the slice
and a NT$250 Saturday brunch buffet (from 12 noon) with all-you-can-eat
items like pesto omelettes, potato pancakes, waffles and, of course,
pizza. Salut is located along the pedestrian-only Soho Street, just
off of Da Yeh Road (between Jing Cheng and Dung Shing roads), in
the former location of Murray's pub.
