After
years of kitchen and management experience at Mimi's Steak House
and An-Lan restaurant, Eagle Tseng decided to create his own, truly
unique establishment. As the name hints, this swanky little restaurant
specializes in European-style appetizers. There are over 20 tasty
and nicely-presented Italian, French and other dishes, such as French
Goose Liver, Italian Prosciutto, Prawns Parmesan, Iranian caviar,
oysters, and Vegetables 'Emmenthal'. Items average around NT$350
each and are fairly filling.
Eagle says there are three main
times each day: 4 to 6 p.m., when many patrons come for after-work
drinks and appetizers before going home for dinner; diners who stay
and eat from 6 to 9 p.m.; and a late-night drinking crowd. There
are plenty of wines and other drinks to choose from. The restaurant
has a upscale, private feel to it, with 30 seats, a long bar and
a few tables. The music is jazz. Ta Yeh North Road starts directly
opposite Soho Street and Eagle's place is about 100 meters up, opposite
Tunghsing Park.--By Douglas Habecker
