When you step into this restaurant, the first thing that you will notice is the luxurious decor. The tablecloths, lamps and even the beams and pillars are all of northern Thai design. Hanging on the walls are huge portraits of Thailand's former kings and queens. The owner is a Thai Chinese with 18 years of restaurant experience. He believes that the most important principle to follow when cooking Thai food is to never use artificial ingredients, but to rely only on natural spices and fragrances. Several delicious examples of this principle in action are the curry crab (NT$380), spicy coconut milk chicken (NT$250), and coconut shrimp (NT$300). River Kwai also serves delicacies such as shark's fin. Satay and Thai-style hot pot (which are both made by the head chef himself) are two dishes which keep the regular customers coming back time and again. From Monday to Friday, a special business lunch (NT$250) is served and includes a main dish, several side dishes, soup and traditional Thai dessert.
