As you step into Chia Lin Lou, you notice the atmosphere is distinctly different from that of other traditional Chinese restaurants. As a designer, the owner chose an ancient Chinese style that is reminiscent of the Peninsula Hotel during the 60s and 70s, adding bouquets of orchids everywhere.

The atmosphere is also subdued, without the noise characteristic of most Chinese restaurants, due to the smaller tables perfect for couples. Although the atmosphere is quite elegant, the prices are reasonable. Each dim sum dish costs between NT$68 and NT$88. Other dishes range in price from NT$100 to NT$300 depending on size.

A favorite dish here is dumplings made with shark’s fin, fresh shrimp or scallops. Groups can reserve a private dining room, or one of four specially designed suites.
