After a month's renovation work in May, Silver Wings restaurant is celebrating their 60th birthday this July. With a brand new decor and atmosphere, this tried and true favorite is ready to greet patrons with their sumptuous Zhun-Yang specialties.
Zhun-Yang cuisine originated during the Sui/Tang dynasties. Back then, Yangzhou (a city in Jiangsu province) was filled with great businesses and commodities and Zhun-Yang cuisine was a major part of the diet. These days, the differences between Shanghai, Ningbo and Jiangzhe delicacies are hard to define and the three are often confused.

Owner/manger Mr. Lan recommends their Smoked Chang Fish (NT$980) and Seasoned Pot Shrimp (NT$390/small), which is shrimp soaked in tomato juice with chicken slices. Silver Wings also offers a selection of noodle dishes and snacks like Assorted Steamed Dumplings (NT$170), a variety of sweet/salty buns, steamed dumplings, and pork dumplings wrapped with pine leaves in bamboo. Siver Wings' customers can also try popular dishes like the Signature Three Meats (NT$390/small), which is pork, chicken and fish, or the Stir Fried Eel (NT$410/small), a Silver Wings exclusive. Zhun-Yang cuisine's particularity about the blending of flavors can be tasted dishes like the Thousand-Slice Tofu (NT$260/small), which like its name suggests, is tofu cut into thousands of thin strips before being cooked.

The front dining area at Silver Wings restaurant is designated for members of the air force; back in the early days, this area only catered meals for officers and politicians. So, the next time you visit Silver Wings, don't be surprised if you are surrounded by senior citizens who have been coming here for literally decades!
