This new 60-room hotel--which has sister hotels in Taipei and Sun Moon Lake--offers a good balance of high-end facilities and services and reasonable prices to independent travelers. --By Douglas Habecker, translated by S. Ying

A. There are plenty of family-style rooms like the pictured Deluxe Family Room (NT$3,700 regular days, NT$4,200 weekend/holidays), with other comfortable, well-equipped rooms and suites starting from the Superior Double Room (NT$2,700/NT$3,200), equipped with one double bed.

B. One of Linkworld's most striking features is its rooftop, ninth-floor, open-air Sky Garden and Sky Cinema, where guests can enjoy drinks at a small bar, relax in a sofa, sit on the grass, and watch movies projected onto a large outdoor screen at night. A fitness center, 28-person conference room, and laundry are also found here.

C. The spacious B1-level main lobby is attractive and tastefully decorated. Adjoining is a business center, The Cafe--serving complimentary Western/Asian buffet breakfasts--plus the high-end, 24-seat Misono Teppanyaki restaurant, open for lunch and dinner.
