This clean, brightly-painted hostel helps to fill a long-term need in Taichung for cheap lodging. Proprietor Jessie Liao herself is an avid backpacker/traveler who was inspired to open this place during her long journeys overseas. A designer by trade, she has given her hostel a cheerful, Mediterranean ambiance with lots of blues and whites and other vivid colors to provide a holiday/home-like ambiance. There is a dormitory-style, air-conditioned men's room and women's room on the second and third floors, respectively, with bunk beds and individual storage lockers (one per guest), and each floor has a shared bathroom. A bed is NT$600 per night; book on the hostel website and that drops to NT$500 Sunday-Thursday and NT$550 Friday/Saturday. Jessie says that she plans to soon add a third mixed (guys/girls) dorm room, plus private rooms/suits in a nearby location. Other facilities and services include free wireless Internet, a TV, city/tour information, and bike rentals (coming soon). A. Corner Backpacker's women's room has a feminine overtones with deep purple and yellow colors, attractive wall-painted Chinese flowers and other decorative touches. The men's room features a Greek theme, using bright blues and whites.

B. The men's and women's rooms each have a spacious, clean shared bathroom.
