Taichung's newest five-star hotel is also
one of its most visible, located in one of the two brightly-lit
skyscrapers constructed by parent company Pou Chen Group just
west of the Route 1 freeway. Windsor Hotel's 149 spacious
rooms and suites are primarily targeted at business travelers
so room amenities are exceptional, including a three-in-one
fax/copy/scan business machine, notebook computer (suites
only), LCD TVs in room and bathroom, wireless Internet access
and other nice touches. Prices start at NT$8,800 for a Superior
Room, although there is a 50-percent net discount on all rooms
and suites until May 31, 2006. The Windsor also features four
top-flight restaurants, starting with Taiwan's first branch
of world-renowned Ah-Yat Abalone Restaurant (offering Mother's
Day specials this month), opened by Hong Kong Master Chef
Yeung Koon Yat. Restaurant Suntory focuses on fresh, light,
healthy Japanese Kaiseki cuisine, while the Galliano Italian
Restaurant offers indoor/outdoor seating with great views
on the eighth floor, where the Chateau Wine Cellar and Cigar
House also is. Guests get a free breakfast at B1-level Windsor
Cafe, serving Western-style buffet meals. Finally, there's
the first-floor Rose Corner bakery cafe with more indoor/outdoor
seating. Guests and members get access to the seventh/eighth
floor Alfa Fitness Club (discounted memberships now available),
which includes a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam
room, hot tub, and garden patio area. Of course, Windsor also
has a fully-equipped Business Center, a lecture hall seating
up to 300, and multi-purpose function rooms for banquets,
conferences and other events. |
