If the number of years in business were the only measure of success, Puo Puo Shaved Ice Shop on CiSian 3rd Road would surely take the...cake. If your Chinese is good enough, the owner (Mrs. Tsai), will entertain you with insightful stories of this second-generation, family-owned ice cream shop that opened 72 years ago. Simply because this place serves Shaved Iced Dishes (NT$30 - NT$80) just as they did during the Japanese occupation, you should stop in to sample from the assortment of flavors; and for a little history. A rustic black-and-white photo of the original owner, which adds to the palpable sense of historical relevance here, overlooks the street-side seating area where customers can also indulge in Fresh Fruit Juices (NT$40 - NT$60).
