Belonging
to a class of its own, brand-new ORANGE is the epitome
of personalized home decor. 99 percent of the inventory
is imported from Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand,
Malaysia, and Indonesia. With connections to warehouses,
artisans, and textile merchants the world over, this is
the place to seek out your ideal motif. The main item for
sale is fabric, specifically, world-famous Jim Thompson
silk. Once you've settled on the fabric you want, arrangements
can be made with a third party to incorporate it into part
of a custom-made piece of furniture (e.g. sofa). Other
items for sale include one-of-a-kind original artwork,
sterling silver collectibles, and antique-style furniture.
Much like the fabric portion of the store, it's possible
to special order items. For instance, if you see a desk
you like, but wish to change the wood type and color, it
can be arranged. This flexibility means prices vary hugely.
Time is also a consideration as special orders, from contract
signing to delivery, can easily require several months.
Although you may not be in the market to build a dream-home
anytime soon, it's well worth a visit to get the ideas
rolling. --By Emi Higashiyama |
