      Taiwanese tattoo enthusiasts consider Lin Che-yuan of Kaohsiung's Super Tattoo to be one of the top artists on the island. He began working in the field 20 years ago, using only needles and a stick to create traditional tattoos, following a childhood during which he admired the tattoos he saw on people around him, and spent his free time drawing his own designs. Lin has been working with a modern tattoo gun for the past 13 years, but still appreciates the act of creating a tattoo. "It is rewarding to stop and see the tattoo," he says. Lin's Canadian apprentice, Bill Jackson, conveys a lot of respect for his teacher. "You have to be sensitive and pay attention to a person's skin," he says. Jackson points out that professionals like Lin have technical skill as well as an artistic eye for what will look right on a person's body.
