Taroko Sports Plaza is a place where
baseball fans can hit balls at alarming speeds, play
in their arcade, or just sit and watch a variety of
sports on a large flat screen monitor. With just five
other locations across the country, this popular Japanese
import is the only one of its kind in the whole city.
The building boasts a staggering 7000square feet of
indoor playing area, with 17 batting cages, three pitching
cages and 15 'slam dunk' basketball games - all fully
automated. Try hitting a ball at speeds from 80km/h
to 140km/h or pitch at a target and have your throwing
speeds recorded. Either way, you get 20 balls for one
token at NT$30. In the cages, you can have your performance
recorded on DVD for NT$100. There's also a choice between
hardball or softball, and private instructors are on
hand to help you improve your swing. There are locker
facilities, washrooms, two snack bars, and soon, indoor
parking facilities downstairs. Watch for a huge exercise
and fitness facility upstairs in the near future.
