       Climbing is finally starting to take off in Kaohsiung! This is evident by the increasing numbers of flushed new faces at Kaohsiung¡¦s latest climbing gym. Yuen Soo Rock Gym is greatly responsible for the surge in interest by creating a smaller, user-friendly, welcoming gym that is cheap to go to. The best thing about this gym is that good climbers go there, so routes and bouldering problems are constantly changing. Located on the second floor of the building across from Nova, the gym is managed by Stanley Chang, who speaks some English. Yuen Soo does not offer rentals but you can use their ropes and harnesses; shoes and chalk you will need to supply. There are no membership fees. If you want to drop by for a single climb the cost is NT$100, but for NT$500 you can buy a card good for 12 visits. Now that¡¦s cheap climbing! -- By Leon VanderPol, translation by Irene Wang
