Mixer is an American-style cafe and bar which, despite its small setting, has managed to make a name for itself over the last two years. This place has special lighting, sofas and hand-made art works on display, which all contrast the old-style building to create quite a breakthrough. Store manager A-Wun uses creative ideas by combining elements of designs from different eras, with bold colors and geometric lines giving the place a glamorous yet retro feeling.

A-Wun is an American-born Chinese but is more comfortable speaking Chinese than English. When asked why he named this place "Mixer", he says that he enjoys mixing things together, whether in regard to life or talents, or the things he puts in his place of business. "I am also the product of a mix," smiles the owner, whose humorous personality has attracted a variety of different customers.

The black tea they sell here has a bit of coffee flavor, so chef/waiter Siao-Liou tells us. The meal and drink selections have more of an exotic flavor. A mixed drink of black tea, coffee and other special ingredients is known as the "Ice Tea". Siao-Liou also has some other recommendations, including the Hungarian Baked Chicken and Spaghetti with White Sauce. Another personality at Mixer is A-Tai, the bartender and DJ, who enjoys playing groovy music and telling people about his drinks.

Although it is located in a plain-looking neighborhood, Mixer Cafe Bar is certainly anything but ordinary. The special personalities and exotic flavors of the meals here all speak for themselves. A reminder to those who like to take photographs: Bring your camera when you visit! At Mixer, they change the decorations and settings around every two months, and it can be very exciting to see the different moods they create for the space. Don't miss this affordable, fun place.
