The Lighthouse Bar and Grill. For many
Kaohsiung residents this name is synonymous with fond
memories and the promise of more good times to come.
Currently one of the city's most well-established restaurant/bars,
owners Brett and Ellie are constantly making improvements
to ensure their customers keep coming back for more.
As a restaurant, The Lighthouse offers
a perfect balance between generous Western and Eastern
meals, at very affordable prices. Weekly food specials,
with the more popular dishes being added to their menu,
ensures that things never get stale. They host special
parties for most Western holidays (including Thanksgiving,
Halloween, St. Patrick's Day, Valentines Day, Christmas
and New Years Eve). Last year they roasted fifteen turkeys
for a well-received Christmas dinner, and this year
promises to be equally good. The excellent service of
the friendly, English-speaking staff add to the warm,
relaxing atmosphere, as does the wide selection of Western
music (from which customers are welcome to request their
favourite songs). They also have a nearby parking lot
with free parking for customers.
As a bar, The Lighthouse offers everything
you could possibly want. They have cheap drinks, with
beers starting from NT$100 and anytime you buy three
shooters you get one free! Their large variety of beers
includes many popular Belgian brands, and they have
Boddingtons, Carlsberg and Jagermeister on tap. They
have a large screen T.V. with satellite dish for live
sports, and English Premier League games are shown every
Saturday and Sunday nights. They host an informal darts
tournament every Thursday night at 10 p.m., which players
of all levels are welcome to join.
Above and beyond this, The Lighthouse
is the proud sponsor of the 100 Pacers Football Club,
the Kaoshiung Cricket Club and the Kaohsiung "Black
Lung" ultimate frisbee team, making them active
supporters of the community. No wonder you often hear
these words: "Let's meet at The Lighthouse."
