A
waterwall by the entrance; a downstairs bar with
probably the softest bar stools in the city; an upstairs
where small groups can relax on colorful-yet-soothing
sofas, or in VIP rooms. All in all, Salute is an
intriguing new addition to Kaohsiung's burgeoning
lounge bar scene. "Our customers say they feel
comfortable. We provide good service, and we make
especially good cocktails. Two of our bartenders
have a lot of experience," says owner Sky, who
gives her aunt--a professional designer--credit for
creating the splendid interior. According to Sky,
on weekdays most of the customers are aged 30 to
40; they like a mellow atmosphere, prefer jazz and
blues, and tend to drink red wines and whiskies.
On weekends, however, Salute attracts a younger crowd
who go for a different kind of music. From Monday
to Friday, "people come to relax after work," she
says. "But on the weekend it can be wild! I
hope everyone can enjoy this place." --By Steven
