About 50 meters away from the south entrance of Hengchun Township, you will find a place adored by many surfers and divers called the Surf Shack. The shack is often filled with private parties, as well as bikini and board-short clad tourists from all over the world bopping in to try their famous burger.

Actually, before running this homestay/restaurant joint, the Surf Shack used to be a roadside vendor. As it got bigger and more popular, they managed to make a name for their great selection of burgers, which include the half-pound Monster Burger (NT$190) and the intimidating, full-pound Double Monster Burger (NT$320). If you're adventurous, try their Chocolate Burger (NT$110)—it's made with rich, creamy chocolate! Store mangers Ee and Terry recommend their Chicken Wings (NT$200) and Greek Salad (NT$200). The crispy, tender chicken wings are unbeatable for the smell alone. The Greek Salad has seasonal vegetables and plenty of olives.

Now, you can also enjoy all-day breakfast, burgers, vegetarian burgers, burritos and smoothies (NT$100 for all flavors). Surf Shack also operates as an affordable homestay facility. There are five different types of rooms for all to choose from: two tiny Japanese-style rooms (no AC), two double rooms (with AC), and one room for six with two double beds and two single beds (with AC). However, advance reservations are recommended.
