For more than six years, the owners of the new Lahore Restaurant have been serving burrito- inspired wraps to customers with a taste for the "East-meets-West" fusion food. The Lahore, a small restaurant with seating for little more than a dozen, serves halal Pakistani and Indian food and is great for traditional curry lovers, too. As it continues to serve the popular wraps from this and another nearby location, the new restaurant is simple and clean; the food is delicious but well priced. Don't miss vegetarian dishes like the Chickpea & Potato Curry with Chapati or the Chickpea & Potato Curry with Rice (NT$60 each). For meat eaters, try the Lentils & Chicken with Rice or Chapati (NT$65), or the Chicken Leg Curry with Rice or Chapati (NT$70). The Beef Potato Stew is NT$80. The Chapati is scrumptious whole-wheat flat bread. All dishes come with a cup of chilled red tea. You'll find Lahore behind the south end of the giant Culture Centre, where the streets get smaller and the shops are more plentiful. --Words and photos by John Matthews, translated by Annie Liu
